Welcome to our new website, we hope you enjoy your visit!

The Casblaidd kennel was founded in 1987; previously we had Labradors, Springer Spaniels, and Kerry Blue Terriers.     Richard's father Jack Hewison had sown the seeds of working gundogs in the 1960's, when together with Bert Pattle and others they founded the Kennet Valley Working Gundog Training Society.

Chris Hewison had his first dog, Nemo (The Viking of Woodbridge).    Chris and Nemo went on to achieve many goals, not the least of which included the K.C.J.O. Junior of the Year and the K.C.J.O. Gold Medal in Obedience with the Welsh team. Nemo also partnered Louise Vaughan to the K.C.J.O. Junior Handler of the Year, showing the versatility of the Flatcoated Retriever.

Chris and Caroline are now carrying the affix into the next generation from their home in West Yorkshire.

This kennel prides itself on its working ability, and has taken many prizes in Working tests. The dogs all work hard during the season, which lasts from early September to the end of January, after which we attend working tests and a few selected shows.
This kennel has bred fourteen dogs over five generations who have achieved their Shooting Dog Certificates - no mean feat.

Although our aim is to produce healthy, good looking dogs for work and play, it is even more important to have sound temperament, and we will not use dogs at stud if there is suspect temperament in the close pedigree.     Our dogs are all family members, and live in the house with us.

Frozen or chilled semen from some of our dogs is available for approved bitches.
